Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the oldest form of professional medicine practiced in the world, used to treat more than two billion people worldwide for over 3000 years.

Based on the idea that the body has a circulating energy force, your health is based on how energy (qi) circulates throughout the entire body. Illness occurs when this flow is blocked or damaged. Acupuncture is extremely effective at restoring the flow of of qi throughout the body and bringing the whole body back into a balanced, functional state.

Growing increasingly popular in the United States, acupuncture is recognized by the World Health Organization for treatment of over two dozen conditions, including but not limited to: allergies, adverse reactions to chemotherapy/radiotherapy, headache, chronic pain issues, digestive disorders, and depression.

Mary utilizes Japanese Meridian Acupuncture and Balance Method Acupuncture in her sessions.

Japanese Meridian Acupuncture is a gentle but effective form of Acupuncture that relies on palpation and discovery of reactive points along energy channels (meridians) of the body. It utilizes very thin gauge needles, few points (often between 4-10 needles are placed) and is focused on your root issue (the reason why your symptoms began).

Balance Method Acupuncture was developed by Dr. Tan, melding his study of Engineering, Mathematics, the I Ching, Ba Gua, and Martial Arts with Chinese Medical theory. This system is based on a system of mirrored points in the body (elbow complaints are treated with the knees, feet with hands) and the palpation and use of distal acupuncture points (points are not placed directly at the site of pain). This method is especially known for its ability to effectively reduce pain.

Mary has also trained in and utilizes Traditional Chinese Acupuncture (TCM style), Auricular Acupuncture, and Scalp Acupuncture methods as needed in her treatments.
